This morning Declan and I went to the Childrens Museum for a couple of hours. He just loves to play there- okay he just loves to play! Today we painted, played on the firetruck, went to the market, climbed through the ant holes, played basketball and played in their little kids land! I dragged him to Walmart afterwards to pick up a few things and by the time we got home he was asking to take a nap!!

Today's Good Intentions
I really wanted Declan to be able to get out and play in the fresh air today- not realizing it was barely 30º with a wind chill that felt like 10. We went out in hoodies and lasted about 10 minutes...he didn't complain when it was time to come in so he must have been pretty cold too! Oh well, I got some cute pictures anyway!
My latest addiction...
My latest addiction is the "Twilight" series by LDS author Stephenie Myers. My mom and sister both read the first book, "Twilight" and then passed it on to me and once I started it I couldn't put it down. As soon as I finished it I ordered the next two from Amazon and waited for them to come. They came last Thursday and I had "New Moon" done by Saurday afternoon and I just finished "Eclipse" this morning. My sweet husband- I definitely owe him for all the time I have spent reading instead of being with him! They are so good. I am not such a huge vampire fan- I can have nightmares from hearing about a scary movie- but these were so not that way! I wish they were my books so I can lend them to you all to read. I loved them! And...in case anyone is already reading them and not wanting it to end like me....there is a new one coming out this fall! I know- what a nerd I am for letting them consume so much of my time recently!

Our first FHE success story....
Honestly, we've never had a real family home evening together-ever. Although it was last minute tonight we went for it. I was inspired by a friend of mine today who said that her kids just love FHE and look forward to it and she has young kids too. I guess if we never get in the habit it will just get harder and harder as our family grows and gets busier, right? We colored some pictures for some of our family in Arizona, we read some scriptures about the sacrament, we (Declan too) sang primary songs, we ate cookies and Declan and Jason posed for some great pictures. We were reading the scriptures and I was talking to Declan about sacrament and if he remembers when we get the bread at church and we say only one piece...he got this smile on his face- he remembered and something about the look made me feel like, "Oh my gosh, he really does get some of this stuff we're trying to teach him". I am really bad at recognizing the Spirit but I definitely felt it tonight. Of course, I was in tears- again (could just be the hormones). It just was so awesome to have that feeling that we're teaching him exactly what we are supposed to. So...long story but YEAH for our first FHE!

Cutest Face!
This week I did some contract work for the company my mom works for and so Declan was with my sister-in-laws on Thursday and Friday. This opportunity made me so grateful that I am able to stay home with Declan all day. Some days it is so hard, the days are so long and it gets so lonely. On Friday he left me the saddest little message when he woke up, "Mama hold you, Mama hold you" he just kept saying it over and over again. He is usually a daddy's boy so even though it broke my heart it felt so rewarding to know that he really does care if I am there or not! We took these pictures after I picked him up and of course I missed him...look at him! I love you sweet boy!!

Sledding!
Declan, Jason and I went sledding together for the first time today. Once we told Declan this morning that we were going sledding he kept talking about it like he knew exactly what it meant. We went to Golden Gate Canyon State Park to this hill where Jason's parents took him as a kid. The hill is huge!!! The first picture is of Jason "testing" out the sled on the first run...he's the tiny black speck. Needless to say the farthest we dared to go up with Declan is probably a third of the way! It was only 22º and with the wind chill it felt even more cold! We probably only sledded for half an hour. Declan was so funny about it...he didn't really give any facial expressions as to what he though of the whole thing...didn't smile, didn't cry- just kept wanting to go again (poor kid- maybe his face was frozen). We had a blast...this will definitely become our traditional family sledding spot!
Hats, hats and more hats!
So Declan decided to model his ever growing hat collection for me this morning...these were the cutest pictures. Jason had him saying something funny to go with the different hats. He doesn't always hang out in his underwear....just this week while we are potty training!!

Underwear bum!
Declan started potty training on Tuesday. He went through 13 pairs of underwear on the first day- thankfully he has been making progress since! Bribery is really working for him...even the little stuff like getting an M&M or a cookie afterwards is reward enough for him....thank goodness! I just think he looks so adorable walking around the house in his underwear!

We're having a.....GIRL!!!
So we had our ultrasound appointment this afternoon and we're having a girl!! At first it didn't seem like the ultrasound lady was going to be able to tell us! She said the baby is sitting up and she has only seen that presentation one other time. She looked and then she double checked about 5 times and it looks like we are having a baby girl!! She was able to get some perfect shots of the babies foot but because of the way she was sitting there aren't any good profile pictures. At one point during the ultrasound she-the baby- was using her hands to play with her feet. It is wierd to think that I had the feeling that it was a girl (and Jason did too) and now we actually know! Jason is so sweet- we went out to dinner with my parents afterwards and I thought he had gotten up to go to the salad bar but he went out to the truck and came back with two little baby girl outfits he had bought all wrapped up in a cute pink gift bag. He has never chosen any baby clothes before so it was really special, I started crying but then again-I am pregnant! What an amazing man! Declan was a little less enthusiastic about the whole situation and every time I would try and tell him he was going to have a baby sister he would just say "no". Well we are very excited...I already know I want to do her room with some purple theme....let the shopping begin!!

Popsicles at Grandma's
I couldn't resist putting these pictures up for everyone to see! Brandon and Ginette are visiting this week and staying at Grandma's house and Katie and Declan have had so much fun playing together while they are here! They both needed a distraction so Grandma gave them popsicles! Notice how Declan's popsicle lasted much longer than Katie's...he would only take one lick at a time! They sure are lovin the company!

Happy New Years!
Happy New Year everyone!! The Kovach side of the family all got together to celebrate at the ProConnect office- there was good food, games, movies, and good company. The kids had fun riding the John Deere 4-wheeler although the speed had to be adjusted to go much, much slower. Brookie was the test child and wouldn't go near that thing for the rest of the night! Declan loved playing on it and was not scared by the speed- in fact, he hardly even smiled while he was on it but you couldn't get him off! As you can see Brookie found something else to entertain her- Ruby's pink bike- she could do it all by herself by the end of the night!! And the adults.... as usual, Jason and Brandon had to find some way to torture Mom and so they kept switching hats and shirts to confuse her- it worked! Declan lasted longer than I did....he finally crashed at 1:45p on Tuesday morning. We left shortly after but apparently the rest of the group stayed to play Phase 10 until 5 o'clock in the morning! Rumor has it Ruby even lasted that long!
