First Day of Pre-School!

Declan's first day of preschool was today. He's going to the Little Brown House Preschool with Mrs. Weber and Mrs. Brown. He was so flippin excited that he came in my room at 7 already dressed in his pre-picked new first day of school outfit. I told him I still had to take and shower and he asked if it could be a quick one!
I had these wonderful plans to make him a special breakfast for his first day. A new recipe- Whole Wheat Blender Pancakes with homemade Magelby's syrup and neither of them turned out so he ended up with cinnamon sugar toast and yogurt. Not like he cared but I wanted it to feel special! While we are eating breakfast he says to me, "Mom- do I have to ride the bus?" and I told him "no" and he says, "Why? I really wanted to ride the bus." Isn't that cute! Anyway, so we get to his school and every one's waiting outside and I turned around long enough to sign him in and turned back around and he was already inside! Without even a goodbye! Oh well- I'm just glad that he was so excited and that he's with two great ladies so I don't even have to worry about him!

Little Miss Trouble Maker...

Look at that precious little angelic girl-NOT. Do not be fooled by the sweetness. This girl is trouble. tRoUbLe. We are at THAT stage. The one where she runs from one naughty thing to the next and then back again. If we are upstairs she doesn't even play with toys she just empties dresser drawers and bathroom cabinets and thinks it's so cute. If we are downstairs she climbs on the couch and rides the arm like a horse or opens the entertainment center to find the Wii remotes or DVD's. She climbs on everything. She laughs when I get serious and tell her no. I even tried swatting her hand and she still laughs. What the heck am I supposed to do? Oh and before I forget....if she is in her car seat she just cries- 90% of the time . Please let this phase soon pass....

Okay now there are brief moments when she's taking a break from her busy schedule to be a little sweetie. She has learned a lot of new things lately. She can point to her nose, eyes, lips, etc. She loves to be chased (which can go in both the good and bad category). She loves, loves, loves Declan. She likes to play with him and tease him. She is signing words together like more drink. She loves to run into the bathroom and climb up on the step stool to wash her hands after she's eaten. She can follow instructions so well- go get your shoes, where's your baby, etc. And one of the cutest things is her love for shoes. She tries every body's on! Just tonight we were at the store and I tried some shoes on her and she obviously loves it- no exaggerating. She holds her foot out and looks at them and then takes a few steps and stops to look down! She didn't even want me to put her old ones back on, she kept pulling her foot away!

Even though she's testing my patience right now she is still sweet and fits perfectly into our family. I can't imagine life without either of my kids!! They bring me so much joy!

Camp Out #5- Sylvan Lake

We are F-I-N-A-L-L-Y done camping for the year! I cannot say how happy I am about that! It was good and fun while it lasted but by the last camp out I was just dreading it. It is so much work and we've had such a busy summer I was just ready to be home! Anyway, the final camp out was at Sylvan lake in Eagle, CO with my Mom's side of the family. We have been camping there since I was a baby and my Papa was even a forest ranger there at one point. It has changed so much over the years but there are lots of memories there and it's special for every one.

Speaking of memories, one year when me and my sister were little we were camping back in the free camping at our spot we will always call the Santistevan tree. We were playing about 100 yards from the main camp area and there was explosion of thunder and it freaked us out so bad and we were both crying running back to our parents....

One year, the year I was six, my Aunt's crazy boyfriend let me drive his truck by myself while my parents were sitting on the tailgate....

Then there was the year that my Granny broke her ankle, or the year that my dad almost got us lost in the woods, or the time my parents actually let us break open our glow sticks and run around in the dark with glow paint all over us...

Anyway, lots of memories there. We went up on my birthday and spent 3 nights. It was pretty cold and rained a lot. One of the nights was so cold that there was frost on everything when we woke up. We did fish a little bit, walk around the lake and ride the dirt bikes. Declan had a blast playing with my little cousins and throwing rocks in the river. Delaney stayed busy getting into trouble. And I'm thinking that maybe by next year I will be ready to do it all again!

Catering

First off, let me apologize for the picture and also say that it doesn't do anything justice but that I can't stand posting without a pic. That said...I had my first catering job recently. I am not trying to start a business or anything but I do really enjoy cooking, baking and eating so when my Uncle asked me to cater a dinner party at there house I couldn't turn him down! Should be easy enough, right? Just to throw in a little twist it had to be vegetarian and gluten free. The dinner was for 14 people that teach yoga for their company. Here is the menu...

Appetizers
Cucumber Dill Sandwiches
Fruit and Cheese Platter

Main Dish
Fiesta Wraps
Tomato Coconut Curry Soup

Dessert
Chocolate Covered Strawberries
Pink Lemonade Cookies
Fruit Skewers

I also wanted it to have a creative flair that was all my own and so I coordinated everything to match the area of their house the party would be in. Also, on each bag I put a different eastern meditation type quote tied on with a cute little ribbon. After the party was over I was so happy to know that I did it all on my own and it actually turned out pretty good! The experience was well worth it but it was quite stressful as was obvious from the sudden breakout on my face and the 5 lbs. I gained the week of! I think the next time would go better just knowing that it will all come together in the end!

Adams County Fair

We went to the fair twice this year. The first time we took my sister in laws kids with us. No pictures because there were no extra hands!! It was fun to see the looks people gave us with six kids all ranging from 13 to 1. Later that week we went back with my parents to more fully experience the fair. Declan got lucky enough to ride a miniature horse and some of the carnival rides. I got lucky enough to have some ribbon fries! MMMM! I love the looks on Declan's face from the carnival rides. On the motorcycles he looks too cool and on the roller coaster he looks terrified! He said he liked it but the look on his face makes me wonder....?!

Eight-Oh Eight- Oh Nine

I will never forget 8/8/09. On this day my newest nephew Cash was born and my baby sis- my ONLY sister got engaged! (Up until this point I was lucky enough to have my own birthday month all to myself on both sides of our family! Now not only do I have to share with Cash, my sister's fiance's b-day is in August too! Even though I am still adjusting to the loss of my own month I am so glad to have both of them in the family!)

Kovach's End of Summer Party

Here are some pics from the 2nd Annual Kovach End of Summer Party. Hard to believe that the my sister in law Ami had her baby less than 24 hours after she was here basking in the sun like such a trooper!!

Camp After Party 2009!

Camp Out #4- Leadville, CO

We came, we camped, we conquered. We survived our 4th campout of the season. **Sigh** Camping is a lot of work. Fun- but hard! We tried a new spot this year just a few miles away from our usual spot but FREE! It was hands down the dirtiest camp out I have ever experienced. There was dust everywhere, like 2 inches of it so when you walked you were kicking up dust, when you talked your hot air moved the dust, when you thought it sensed it and started to blow. The kids were cleaned off so many times but yet they looked like they had gone for weeks!
We had a blast! We all played in the icy river, road dirt bikes, ate lots of yummy stuff, played baseball, and so much more. It was a few weeks ago and I want to say more about it but the details are a little dusty (WAHAHAHA) so that's all you get!

Jacinth and Keve

My favorite sister came a few weeks ago for a short visit. Little did she know, her boyfriend flew in on the next flight and surprised her! While she was here we went to a Rockies game, ate good food, saw a movie together and went shopping! When she's home it's like a mini vacation for me because I get to tag along! It's always easier to say goodbye when we know we'll be seeing each other soon, really soon, see ya next week Jess!
